How to disable the battery optimization on Android?

Most Android smartphones today have battery optimization features to make your device last longer. Unfortunately, in many cases, it's done through restricting apps' activity in the background. They put the GPS and WiFi/Cellular in a low consumption mode or disable them all. Since our app relies on these connections, using battery saving mode in your smartphone can have a significant negative impact on the connection range and GPS accuracy.

Google Pixel

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Open Apps & notifications -> Find the Geozilla app -> App battery usage -> Allow background usage
3. If the Geozilla is listed as “Optimized,” please tap on it -> "Not optimize" -> Done.

Samsung

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Applications
3. Select the three-dot menu (top right corner)
4. Select Special Access -> "Optimize Battery usage" -> "Apps not optimized."
5. Find Geozilla on the list and make sure that it is not selected.

Huawei

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Select "Apps" -> "Advanced" (at the bottom) -> "Ignore optimizations."
3. Press "Allowed" and select "All apps."
4. Find Geozilla on the list and set it to "Allow".

Huawei P30 or P30 Pro

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Select "Battery" -> "App launch" -> Geozilla
3. Toggle "Manage automatically" to "Manage manually."
4. On the screen that will pop up, ensure the following options are toggled:
   • Auto-launch
   • Secondary Launch
   • Run in the background

MIUI

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Additional Settings -> Battery & performance -> Manage apps' battery usage
3. Choose apps and select Geozilla.

Also:

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Additional Settings -> Privacy -> Location
3. Check that you are using High Accuracy for Location Mode and also allowing location access. Configure the app so it can use GPS in the background.

 Sony

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Select "Battery" -> (...) menu in the top right corner -> "Battery optimization."
3. Select Apps -> "Geozilla."

LG

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. "Battery & power saving" -> "Battery usage" -> "Ignore optimizations."
3. Turn off battery optimization for Geozilla.

One Plus

1. Open your phone Settings -> Select "Battery" -> "Battery optimization."
2. Switch to the "All apps list" (top menu)
3. Select Geozilla and choose "Don’t optimize".

Motorola

1. Open your phone's Settings
2. Select "Battery" -> Tap the menu in the top right corner
3. Select "Battery optimization" -> "Not optimized" -> "All Apps."
4. Find Geozilla on this list -> "Don’t Optimize."
5. Go back to your phone settings
6. Select "Battery"

7. Turn Battery Saver Mode off
